In prossimità delle feste di questo fine 2014 Animal Equality non ferma il suo lavoro sui retroscena del commercio di carne di agnello in Italia e lancia un importante aggiornamento, grazie ad una nuova investigazione realizzata sui tremendi viaggi che gli agnelli devono sostenere prima di affrontare il loro triste destino nei macelli italiani.
Grazie inoltre ad un intelligente espediente trovato dagli investigatori di Animal Equality abbiamo avuto la possibilità di salvare due agnelli, due testimoni e superstiti delle investigazioni che finora abbiamo presentato. Timo e Zenzero sono due piccoli fortunati, che vivranno la loro vita al meglio, accuditi all’interno del rifugio The Green Place, che ospita animali salvati da situazioni analoghe. Timo e Zenzero saranno aiutati e sostenuti da Animal Equality che li seguirà nella loro vita, assieme agli operatori di The Green Place.

Our reporting work doesn't
stop even during the holidays. These
images document the shameful
conditions in which lambs are
forced to travel from abroad to
reach their sad appointment with
death in Italian slaughterhouses.
although two of them this time
managed to escape the cruel fate
and can now finally start
living.
It is immediately after birth that lambs
begin to experience the smell of
suffering, with the trauma of
separation from their mother, sudden
moves, and the ruthless selection
by breeders.
Separating a mother
from her baby is perhaps the worst
trauma imaginable.
During periods of peak market demand,
the number of
lambs transported from abroad, where
production costs are significantly
lower, also increases.
Although in recent years, thanks to the
decrease in demand for
lamb meat, this cruel trade has
decreased. The numbers are still
impressive and show us trucks
loaded with terror that can
contain over 700 lambs piled on
top of each other.
Locked in such narrow spaces, they
find themselves thirsty, licking the walls
of the trailer and desperately biting
the iron bars. At the sight of the
investigators filming their
drama, the puppies seek contact. We
show you recent images of
travel conditions in some camps
that have been reported to the authorities,
along with descriptions of
violations of animal transport regulations
.
Intent on documenting what was
happening, we had to realize
that only consumers through informed choices can put an end to so much suffering
.
Transported from Eastern Europe for over 30
hours and 1,500 km without water, surrounded
by their own excrement. Can the
treatment of these animals
be acceptable?

save two lambs, survivors and
witnesses of the investigations
we have conducted to date.
