animal equality took root in the hearts
and minds of three people who with some
volunteers decided to chain themselves
to the entrance of a slaughterhouse in
October 2006 to bring attention to the
killing of animals for food but our
message of compassion soon grew reaching
countless people all across the
world only 10 years later animal
equality has become a leading Animal
Protection Organization all around the
globe thousands of people come together
to save animal lives Jose Javier and
myself founded animal equality in 2006
the first years were challenging and
difficult we worked multiple jobs to be
able to pay for the leaflets and the
banners that we used as part of our
campaigns animal equality met those
early challenges with methods that were
both creative and impactful fueled by
Passion and conviction we jumped into
bull fighting rings with nothing more
than banners and our
voices we protested against fur stores
and rushed fashion show runways to
protest the cruelty of fur
our message was seen by millions around
the world as our message went Global
compassion spread and many others began
joining our
mission investigations have always been
the foundation of our work over the
years animal equality has visited nearly
700 farms and slaughter houses and
presented more than 60 investigations in
eight different countries reaching
hundreds of millions of people around
the
world I will never forget the first slau
house that I filmed a years ago since
then we have exposed the cruelty that
goes on into factory farms and slau
houses in over 600 facilities all around
the world and now we have investigators
in seven countries thanks to their hard
work we are changing the minds and
hearts of millions of people since the
first investigation our team has
continued to make headlines and waves
around the world
from 2013 to 2015 animal equality
conducted a series of extensive
investigations into China's dog and cat
meat industry the atrocities we exposed
LED not only to the closing of a
slaughterhouse but of 33 markets that
sold cats and dogs for
meat in 2012 and 2013 animal equality
took on the cruel fog ra industry as a
result India banned the importation of
fagra and the single largest Supermarket
retailer in Italy Co-op stopped selling
fagra following our investigation into
lamb Farms the consumption of these
animals for Easter has dropped
significantly and steadily for three
consecutive years approximately 300,000
Lambs a year have been spared from a
life of
misery in both Spain and England our
findings in pig farms have resulted in
the toughest sentences for farmed animal
abuse in history and our invest
tigations into Pig and hen farms in
Germany have appeared in the most
important newspapers in the
country in 2016 we launched the first
investigation ever to be presented in
Mexico inside factory
farms our 2014 footage of the gatay
festival shocked the world and thanks to
our work convincing the Indian
government to ban the transport of
animals from India to Nepal during the
gatm festival there was a 70% drop of
the the amount of land animals killed
this year
all these animals now live in loving
homes animal equality's work is being
recognized globally having been
considered a very effective charity in
the last
years and in Germany we won the 2016 Web
video award in the 360 category for eye
animal Through The Eyes of a pig we are
in engaging with institutions and
politicians to change the reality for
Animals this year alone we have visited
Milan's Town Hall the European
Parliament the Berlin Parliament as well
as all major political conferences in
the UK to give a voice to animals now
more than ever with a renewed focus on
farmed animals our team is committed to
saving lives with our use of virtual
reality our I animal project is reaching
tens of thousands of students around the
world sharing this project with over 100
other organizations also assures that we
reach even more people and we have
recently launched our corporate Outreach
Department which aims to convince
corporations to adopt more meaningful
animal protection policies we are
working with officials around the world
too to ensure that animal protection
laws aren't just implemented but
enforced our work is challenging but
rewarding over the years we faced
obstacles witnessed horrific acts of
violence against animals been arrested
and suffered the loss of animals that
we've rescued animals that we've loved
but we haven't and won't give up today
we renew our commitment to animals
