Animal Equality urges Kolkata authorities to prosecute buffalo abusers
Animal Equality yet again exposes the cruel and illegal practices taking place in dairies during the transport of unproductive animals to slaughterhouses. In its recent investigation into dairies, the Animal Equality team witnessed buffaloes being mercilessly abused while loading them onto a truck outside a dairy in Paglahat village near Kolkata.
Animal Equality submitted evidence of this ghastly incident to the Animal Welfare Board of India, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services, and the Calcutta Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. The Animal Welfare Board of India in turn filed a complaint with the Commissioner of Police and forwarded the evidence to the Deputy Commissioner and the Director of state Animal Husbandry. It is extremely disappointing to see that the local authorities have not taken any action on this.

You will never see these images used
to promote the consumption of dairy despite the fact
that they are more frequent than you would imagine.
During our latest investigation into the production
of dairy in India, animal equality investigators
witnessed this be fellow being mercilessly abused
after a while of being repeatedly impregnated and melt.
She is weakened and can barely walk.
She can't make it up this steep ramp onto the truck
that will transport her to be killed.
The workers don't care.
They beat her, twist her tail to force her
to climb onto the truck.
They lose their patience.
They pour water over her mouth
and nostrils to make her feel like she's drowning.
She endures the dormant for many minutes.
They also penetrate her genitals with a stick causing
what must be unimaginable pain.
Despite the relentless abuse from the workers
and the extreme pain, she feels she resists
to walk into the truck.
Sooner or later, she will be killed anyway,
just like the rest of Buffalo's used for dairy in India,
we have reported these crimes to Animal Welfare Board
of India, who in turn filed a complaint
with the Karta Commissioner of Police.
The evidence of these crimes have been forwarded
to the Deputy Commissioner
and the director of State Animal husbandry.
We have also submitted the evidence to the Calta Society
for the Prevention of Cruelty to animals
and animal husbandry and veterinary services.
We have laws in India that prohibit cruel treatment
of animals, but what good are they?
If they're not enforced?
Why haven't local authorities acted?
Don't let this abuse remain unpunished.
Don't let other defenseless animals go through the same.
