hens and chickens experience a wide
range of emotions they are social Birds
who recognize each other by their facial
features they are capable of solving
complex problems and
Counting just like a human mother a hen
is very maternal and will aggressively
protect her Young from any Predators or
threats
hence can communicate with chicks while
they are still incubating inside the
egg yet we choose to subject these
intelligent and emotionally intelligent
birds to a life of
misery India has grown to become the
world's third largest egg producer after
China and the United
States in this developing economy the
majority of Egg Farmers are adopting
factory farming practices common in the

west animal equality visited several egg
facilities in the states situated in the
north south and west of India which are
known for its egg
production four to eight hens were
crammed in in cage which is a size of
two A4 siiz
papers the hens often step on each other
in an attempt to find place to
move due to the wired floor of the cage
the feet can bleed and become sore
cracked and
deformed the hen claws which are
designed to scratch
vigorously and thus stay short and blun
become long
thin twisted and
broken these overcrowded gauges are
usually stacked one on top of another
causing urine and feces to fall onto
birds in lower
cages many birds were also missing their
feathers and had abrasions and
irritations on the skin probably due to
the high concentration of ammonia from
the litter
the litter is collected in huge piles
underneath the Stacked cages and it is
disposed once every few
weeks the lack of timely disposal can
lead to diseases and mortality among the
birs these cruel battery cages were
required under law to be phased out by
2017 yet millions of hens are still
suffering
