Last year we launched an international campaign to demand a ban on the sale and slaughter of live animals at wet or traditional markets around the world. Our petition addressed to the United Nations (UN) has collected more than five lakhs signatures worldwide.
On June 17, 2021, the signatures were delivered to U.N. asking the governing body to publicly acknowledge the risks live animal sales pose to global health and urging policymakers all over the world to restrict markets from selling live animals.

nearly 600 000 people joined you in
asking the united nations to end animal
cruelty at wet markets worldwide
and the time has come today i will be
delivering your signature to the united
nations asking them to take action
in the spring of 2020 animal equality
launched a shocking investigation into
the cruelty taking place in live markets
alongside a petition calling for their
immediate closure
a campaign that has only become more
urgent due to the struggles of the
pandemic
unfortunately and in spite of the global
fight against covet 19 we found the wet
market were still selling and killing
live animals so once again we released
exclusive investigative footage to alert
the public that these dangerous places
were still a threat
because of our work the world now knows
of the danger and cruelty of wet markets
that wild and domestic animals are mixed
together in tiny cages without food or
water
forced to watch as their companions get
slaughtered
that these places are the perfect
breeding ground for diseases and that
these diseases can make the jump to
humans
this incredible milestone would not have
