hi guys my name is varun bhagat and i'm
very happy to support animal equality's
love page campaign
um
i turned to plant based about two years
ago and i'm over here today to challenge
you guys for a 21 day plant-based diet
and today i'm going to talk about my
journey
actually there's a friend of mine
whose
brother's son was diagnosed with type a
diabetes and that poor baby was six
months old
and
he used to have uh
four insulin injections or insulin shots
every day
and the doctor told the family that
just try
because you can't do anything about type
in diabetes right so they said just just
try uh making him vegan
the six month old
baby four insulins every day
cut two about a year later uh
that boy is one and a half years old i
think now he's about to he takes zero
insulins
and
he's on a plant-based diet and when my
friend told me that it blew my mind
secondly there was lockdown happening
and i didn't i hadn't seen any
documentaries i had saw nothing i knew
about this story
and i knew that i didn't eat a lot
so i thought
let's just give it a try because i
wanted to see how it feels also
and
i started uh
eating plant-based food and it just i
just felt so light and i was like this
is the way i want to do it because
i realize soon enough that it's not a
diet you know it
it's your lifestyle
and uh
so many things have changed uh after
that the way i feel is the most
important
and i'm very happy that i'm doing it
without you know torturing any animals
as well so
it's a good deed blood is good that you
feel good so
[Music]
i was a hardcore non-vegetarian i'm
born in delhi i was born in delhi so i
was like i used to joke that i was
dipped in butter chicken
so from that to leaving everything
was to be very honest with you not that
difficult because
um
the the the difference between eating
meat and plant is that it's it's a 10
minute high right you eat something good
and you feel
great for those five minutes when you're
chewing your food and it's going inside
and after 10 minutes you're like oh my
god
i just
i don't want to feel like that because
it doesn't
feel good the good thing about
plant-based was that
i always felt energetic
i always felt light
and i always felt good
that's how you want to feel
you know if if i would and i would say
this to people that
don't watch any documentaries don't
watch anything but if you like yourself
you want to take care of yourself why
don't you just try just try for like 15
days
generally just try eating clean
plant-based food see how you feel
you know your the way your mind works
the way your body functions you feel
light you sleep on time you get up on
time everything is perfect your body
there is no
body ache nothing
you know and and in today's day and age
there are so many substitutes to milk to
chicken to cheese to you get everything
[Music]
i faced
zero challenges
and i it's it's actually so
uh
mind-boggling that uh a person used to
eat chicken every day i left chicken two
years ago and there is no urge
because i eat and i love what i eat you
know i make spinach smoothies in the day
for my breakfast i have spinach
smoothies with porridge with almond
butter
with
dates and
all kind of dry fruits i eat a lot and
papaya so this is my breakfast and it's
so tasty and it's healthy what more do
you want man
you know you're eating clean and you're
feeling good about it
and
i'm sure there are a lot of people who
have uh their
stories
uh
about
they watched good documentaries and uh
they got aware of all of that
uh of all the animal cruelty and i would
100 recommend that you guys go and watch
it
but also i would say
that don't you want to feel good about
yourself
don't you want to like
uh feel light
i mean what's the harm and you're eating
good food you're eating yummy food
you're not feeling bloaty you're not
feeling
you know sad or you're not feeling
tired you're feeling energetic all the
time who doesn't want to feel that and
you know fulfill whatever you want to
eat
uh so you guys have given me a big chunk
of chocolate ice cream i'm going to
finish it i ran for 10 kilometers to eat
that today this was a this was a
challenge for me i went to
azerbaijan for a shoot and
even in a place a kfc there was
forget vegan there was no vegetarian
food also
there was only chicken
so i was like and i still didn't turn
and i was like you know i'm i'll find my
food and i found it uh it took me time
but but then i realized i was like
um
i'm so happy you know doing it so and
it's not about i would say it's not
about k up
you are doing something oh my god
it's not that difficult
you know honestly it's it's
if you really like
that food which you will i guarantee you
it's not that difficult it's not that oh
my god it's so tough to become a vegan
today it's not it's so easy and it's so
good i would say go ahead and just try
it
before saying no i love my meat
just try it what's the harm
in my breakfast i make amazing
spinach smoothies
which consists of of course spinach and
pomegranate and bananas and kale and
sesame seeds and
flax seeds and all that
and then i have porridge with that i
have three brown breads
brown toast with almond butter
and i eat a lot and papaya so that's my
a little bit of dry fruits
yeah that's too much but that's yummy
that's my
breakfast
uh then i train um
usually maybe before or after whatever
but that's my breakfast and then uh for
lunch uh i can have uh i make mushrooms
uh with the garlic and
onions and it's very amazing with with
tofu and then again if i can either
saute it with the different vegetables
and then i have it with
red rice or brown rice or i have it on a
toast or i can have roti
there usually i have salad and soup
and
yeah you can make your own salad it's so
easy it's so easy it's not that
difficult you know so
and and i'm saying i don't know how to
cook properly i know how to cook like
decent my food but still it's not that
good
[Music]
i get usually my protein
i have i have one scoop um
maybe one half scoop of protein shake
from bold fit or somewhere anywhere you
go on amazon today and you write a vegan
protein you'll get so many
so i get like about 30 40 grams from
there and then it's in my food like i
have tofu i have these mushrooms and all
of these things i have
i have vegan protein bar which i have
once a day i've been training for about
oh my god since i was like 14 years 15
years old i think it's been like 14 15
years since i've been training
and uh
i fee i don't know how how
how more do i put it in
it's so important that to know how you
will feel once you become vegan once you
become plant-based
you don't know you will feel you feel
lighter than air you feel energetic all
the time you don't feel sad or tired or
exhausted
i really hope that this inspires you to
join hands with me and to
save our health
our environment
and animals
so one more time i ask you guys are you
ready
for a 21 day plant-based challenge so
take the pledge at animal equalities
